Local Walks

Blandford St. Mary is the starting point for a number of interesting local walks – there are also bridleways and cycle routes, as well as any number of walks in and around the local villages and county beauty spots.

Whether you just enjoy a stroll with the dog or family or have been bitten by the rambling bug, we hope you will find a walk here to enjoy.  Let us know about your favourite walk and we will include it on the website.

Leaflets and books on walks around Dorset can also be obtained from the Information Office in Blandford Forum.

For many of us, taking the family hound out on a ramble around the countryside is all part of the fun.

However, please remember your countryside doggie code: take poo bags with you and deposit used bags in the red bins provided along many public footpaths, make sure you can see him/her at all times and, if necessary, on a lead when requested to do so, especially around livestock.

Two great doggie websites:

  • www.dorsetdogs.org.uk – a new site with loads of info on great places to walk, doggie events and a social page where our ‘best friend’ can exchange news and photos with new friends
  • www.doggiepubs.co.uk – just what it says on the packet!  Check out the list of Dorset pubs(93 to date) where your four-legged friend is welcome.
